How to use GP Out of Hours

GPs or family doctors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All day, all night, all the time. Some surgeries open late into the evening or on weekends whilst others have more traditional opening hours, but they all have one thing in common: they all link to the GP Out of Hours service as soon as they close their doors each day.

The GP Out of Hours service is a separate service with doctors who work round the clock to offer help, advice and treatment when you need it. If you need to see or speak to a doctor when your surgery is closed, just call your usual surgery number and you’ll be put through automatically or given another number to call.

Manchester’s Out of Hours GP service is provided by GTD Healthcare, a local not-for-profit company. Following your call, specialist clinical staff will arrange telephone advice, a treatment centre appointment or even a home visit if one is clinically necessary. You can call them direct on 0161 336 5958.
